1. Planning

Looking back at the planning we did at the start, I think…

We should've stuck to our original idea that we came up with. Which was what was the most beneficial way of making power for Otaki?

Having had the experience of this project, if I was planning another project I would…

I would Make it something that everyone is interested in. I would rather do my English, Social and Science classes.

Time management and workflow

Looking back at how well we planned and then recorded each week's and day's work and managed our time, I think….

I think we did it quite good keeping up with all the tasks we were given each day.

Another time, I would…

I wouldn't do anything different because we were keeping up with our task.

Collaborative skills

Considering how our group managed our relationships, discussions, decisions, and the way we shared out and contributed to the work, I think… We all listened to each others opinions and weren't rude to the others ideas.

In future, I would… Do one thing that some-one suggested so it's all even and we can say that we did something instead of just one person doing it. Like splitting up all the questions so everyone can answer at least one.

Personally I think we did well like the other groups and their presentations.

We did good at putting everything together and doing research and didn't change that much stuff that we planned from the start.

My positives for Showcase Day were…. because…. People were actually interested in our presentation and peoples family came to support. Because it was for our small community.

a) What skills did you use, learn or develop during this project which will be helpful in your life beyond school? How to communicate in a group with people I didn't know.

b) Would you like to do more of this kind of learning next year?

    Personally no, I would rather do my English, Social and Science.

c) What did you learn from this process that will help with future projects?

      To keep up with your group. Especially when your not at school that much. 

d) What advice would you give to the teachers if they are running this or something similar in the future?

Have a vote so we can pick what topic to do the project about. Like the year 9's with their Passion projects.

I have achieved finishing my board and having to do one more thing and we are done for the project.

Finished out board

Helped print the slides out and glue them

  Make something.

We are doing an experiment  with boxes and a hand made solar oven to see the difference between them and how they heat up water.

Making the slides look more presentable

I was hardly here but when I was I was finishing my work.

Helping out with the slides.

Figure out how to present it and make some thing intractable for people.

Sad joke on a Marae

Hi my name is Lyla, and in my English we are doing a poem called "Sad joke on a Marae."

The poem is written by Apirana Taylor and it is about a guy called Tu, he grew up not knowing really about his culture. He said in the poem that jail was his home and the only Maori he knew was Tihei Mauriora.

Te Tiriti part 2

 Personally I think the Queen is a shady shark for making the British steal land from the Maori. I think the British lied to the Maori to get them to sign the Tiriti. They may have  translated it incorrectly on purpose.   The reason for this is because they did not want the Maori chiefs to be aware that they would lose Maori sovereignty and self governance.

Our class is learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. In this picture the wave represents Te Tiriti. Every person on the picture represents a different meaning, I am the person sitting be hind the hill because I hear a lot of people talking about Treaty of Waiangi but i'm not sure what it is about.

Lion Dancing

 On wednesday we went to go do lion dancing with a guy named Winsome Lam. He told us to get into groups of 2. Zoe and I of course went together.  We decided that I was going to be head and Zoe was going to be the body. People that were going to be heads had to go and get this belt thing. You and to tie it around your waist like you tie your shoe. Next he should us the things we had to do.  Zoe had to put her hand under neath the belt and then I had to bend backwards. Then we both had to squat down. Then we all had turns to go into the lion costumes that they had brung! But Zoe and I didn't want to (as we had a choice) By Lyla.

Runaways

 One day there were two girls named Zoe and Lyla. Everyone didn't feel comfortable in the country. There were these people that their group  name was the runaways they would go around the country snooping on people. Some people have gone missing and everyone has a feeling that it was the runaways. Every weekend everyone would stay in their house and wouldn't go anywhere. But Zoe and Lyla wanted to make a change in the country. Everyone was terrified, even the police to go and tell them to stop what they were doing and let everyone go. They made up a plan to go and find people. The thing was they needed to have the police to hide in the bush and get the guns. They went to the police station and asked if they could. They said it was a really dangerous idea. Zoe and Lyla knew that it would be  dangerous they both had prepared before. They said yes and asked when they were going to do it. They said we are going to do it tomorrow at 11.00am. They asked where they were going to meet up. Zoe said a little bit down the road of where they live so you cant see the police car.  Then Lyla thought of a really good idea that we can get a detective's car so the police car doesn't look suspicious. Then they agreed that they would meet up at 11.00am down the road from the house. The next day they met up and told the 3 policemen what they were going to do. The night before Zoe had made up some cookies so they would look like they were giving cookies out. Zoe & Lyla went and knocked on the door with the police hiding in the bush. Then the man opened up the door. Zoe said 'Hello Mr man what your name!?" The man answered and said "My name is Tim!" Zoe and Lyla didn't think he was scary . Then Lyla asked,  "Would you like some cookies'! The man took some and took a bite. Zoe did something to the cookies. She used ingredients that were rotten and put a tiny bit of poison in them. He collapsed right in front of their eyes. The police heard the big thump and ran with their guns Zoe and Lyla were already in the house trying to look for everyone that was kidnapped. Then at the end of the hallway there was a door that was shut. They walked up to it with  the police men and the guns just in case there was another bad person. They started to creep up to the door. Zoe slowly opened up the door and the police quickly put up their guns because there was another man. He was pointing a gun at people that they kidnapped. Zoe had gone behind him before the police said "DROP THE GUN NOW!" He wouldn't drop the gun so Lyla went in front of him and grabbed the gun and Zoe put the guy under arrest. The other policeman took him to jail while the other guy was taking him to hospital because he was poisoned and had to have police in the hospital room. Zoe,Lyla and other policemen were getting the people that were kidnapped. First they gave them food and water because they would have been dehydrated and starving! Then they went to the police station to interview them. They were all so tired so they went back to their home and the next day they went for the interview. The detectives were so shocked by what they were doing. But they all had to go to court against the bad people. A couple weeks later they all had to go to court. They told the judge every single thing that happened to them. The  judge told the bad people that they had a life sentence in jail. Everyone felt safe because Zoe and Lyla  saved the whole tire country. Everyone was going out like nothing ever had happened again. Everyone felt safe! The End.
